Book Club

Welcome to the PRC bookclub. The bookclub meetings are held the 3rd Week of each month. This page has been set up as a reference for club members.


The meeting place is the Mi Ranchito restaurant on Manorhaven Blvd, in Port Washington, at 8pm, unless otherwise noted.

Below is the schedule for the Fall of 2010.

Sept. 15th - A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith
Oct. 20th - The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot
Nov. 17th - The Irresistible Henry House by Lisa Grunwald
Dec. 15th - One Day by David Nicholls
Jan. 19th - An Education by Lynn Barber (movie night -meeting at the home of Marlene Munnelly)

We will meet at Mi Ranchito restaurant on Manorhaven Blvd. at 8:00 pm.

One exception: the January meeting will take place at Marlene's home to watch the film version of An Education. Details on location will be emailed to group members.

The book will be A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith

A Tree Grows In Brooklyn is a novel by Betty Smith first published in 1943. It relates the coming-of-age story of its main character, Francie Nolan, and her Austrian/Irish-American family in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York City. The novel is set in the first and second decades of the 20th century. The book was an immense success, a nationwide best-seller that was distributed to servicemen overseas.
