Funding/Development Help Needed

The PRC is constantly seeking financial aid from corporations, private foundations and fraternal organizations. This funding is essential to our Outreach Program, which provides parent education and assistance to low-income and minority families in Port Washington. There are many organizations out there that could provide support and we need to find them.

If you, a family member or a friend belong to such an organization, or know of a private foundation we could approach in this effort, call the PRC at 767-3808 for more information.

The Parent Resource Center is an accepted agency of United Way of New York City and United Way of Tri-State. If you or your spouse's company participates in United Way's local campaign, please consider designating the Parent Resource Center as your beneficiary for the next campaign. Your generosity will make opportunities available for Port's low-income families. Thank you for your consideration.

Community Chest

The PRC has been a member of the Port Washington Community Chest for 19 years. The money we receive from the Chest is earmarked for Outreach. Therefore, it is essential that we give back to the Community Chest. Please help this very worthwhile organization by volunteering in its annual fundraising drive. Time spent volunteering for the Chest will go toward your volunteer commitment at the PRC. Just let the PRC Executive Director know that you helped the Chest this year. For more information on how to volunteer, call the Chest office at 767-2121 or call the PRC.

PRC receives $10,000 legislative grant
-September 2005-

The Port Washington Parent Resource Center, watering the seeds of our community for over 25 years, received a $10,000 grant from the New York State Office of Children and Family Services through the office of Senator Michael Balboni and with the assistance of County Legislator Craig Johnson.  The grant was used to purchase new classroom furniture, renovate the PRC office, upgrade the electrical outlets, add hallway lighting and purchase a computer to support the PRC operations. Karin Pedersen Adelman, KPA Interior Design Consulting and PRC member and volunteer extraordinaire designed the new office space and supervised installation.  Anthony's World of Floors donated the carpet.
