I am really excited to get the spring semester underway! There are so many new classes and Vacation Workshops on the schedule I can’t wait for my kids to take! Now we don’t have to choose only one class because there is a 10% multi-class discount for members. Also new this Spring is an early registration bonus of $15 for members so be sure to register by the end of 2011! There are so many ways to save we can enjoy more of the PRC’s wonderful programs!
Also planned are great events to bring us all together and enjoy the warming weather. A new event for the PRC is the Spring Fling-a party for the whole family to celebrate the return of spring and the Community Yard Sale & Swap. Its a big yard sale where you can sell your unwanted items and find some new-to-you treasures. Check your e-mails for details.
Please keep an eye on your PRC e-mail also for up to the minute information on the Annual Spring Gala. We’ve already started the pre-planning and we will keep you updated on time and location as the information becomes available. Please register on VolunteerSpot to join the Gala Committee today! Our biggest event of the year depends on you to be a success.
Now that we talked about all the fun times ahead for the PRC this Spring, I need to take a moment to talk a little business. I can’t emphasize enough how truely important financial donations are to the PRC, especially after the loss of public grant money. NYS budget cuts have put us in the position of depending on our friends and members to help subsidize programming formerly paid for by these grants. Lisa Grossman, Director of Operations, in partnership with the PRC Board of Directors, has been working tremulously hard to help our financial situation by streamlining how we run our center. She is working tirelessly to re-allocate funds for projects and supplies, re- negotiate teacher salaries (a savings passed onto you!) and countless other cost saving measures to help the PRC conserve as much of our savings as possible. The End of Year Donation Campaign is in full swing and we ask for your financial support. Even a small donation can make a huge difference!
Another way to help the PRC save money is to help with dry goods. Every donated item means less money we have to spend so please think of us when you are out shopping and get a great deal by picking up an extra and dropping it at the PRC next time you come in!
We’re certain it’s going to be a great Spring and we can’t wait to see you at the PRC!
Warmest regards,
Susan Lo, PRC Board President
